Do yourself a favor and go pick up Willie Niles "Streets of New York" cd. it is fantastic. Joe suggested I pick it up after LOD and I finally got around to it last week and I am kicking myself for taking so long. Great stuff!

It was great talking to you on Saturday night but forgive me. I don't remember what guitar toys we were talking about. I haven't really changed anything except for my Fuchs deal and the new amp or I recently installed the new Takamine CTP-1 (tube pre-amp) in my acoustic. Other than that, I can't remember. Sorry. I love talking gear though so who knows.
Again, wasn't that a great show Saturday? I think that was Joe at his best. I had a blast just sitting next to him listening to him play and tell his stories.
This Saturday is at the Beach Room. I hear it's a great room with a big stage.
I hope to see you there.

Peace!

What a fantastic show at Club Cafe on Saturday, shame on those who missed it. It had everything I love, a great mix of older and newer tunes, great stories, and passionate singing in a small intimate venue where the sound is top notch.

'Blood On the Bricks' was played for the king of setlists, thanks for posting dc.

I can't pick any one moment since they were all highlights. It kind of reminded me of when Joe used to play at a small venue in Shadyside called Cafe Photo Forum where anything and everything was played. Just an excellent evening of music with one of our favorite songwriters. It's at this type of venue that you really get to hear the songs and get to hear what some of them are about. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

I'll echo the thoughts about the Club Cafe show. You have to love it when there are sixty some people listening. Some talkers came in next to me and left. I heard the one say, "These people are too serious." They then mercifully left. Yes they were.

I particulary enjoyed Silence of Your Arms which I had never heard before. You knew Spanish Blood as an opener meant nice surprises to come.

Danny, I dug that explanation of your new guitar "toys" but cannot explain it to anyone. What is that stuff again?

I loved the story about how Pittsburgh invented antiques ... we just called it junk.

I was searching some stuff online and read about a legandary benefit show at the Cleveland Agora for the Cleveland InternationalRecords roster. It seems that the Iron City Houserockers opened for the The Boyzz who brought out Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson, Karla DiVito, and Ellen Foley and Meatloaf for an allstar jam at the end. I guess i wonder if Joe has any tidbids about this night but the thing that intrigues me is that Cleveland International filmed the entire show so....does Joe or anybody have this?

Last night’s 2+ hour show at Club Café was awesome, just plain awesome! Joe had the perfect mix of warm storytelling, sarcastic humor, and classic as well as new songs!

My personal favorites included:

“A Fool’s Advice” – This was the first time I ever heard this done acoustically and it was absolutely incredible!

“Dark & Bloody Ground” - Danny gets more music out of his acoustic guitar than an entire 30-piece symphony and Joe’s lyrical genius on this song, combined with his snarling vocals, never fails to give me the chills. . . . .”If Jesus was born in Kentucky they’d make him pay for his nails”.

“Safe At Home” – I could listen to Joe and Danny exchange guitar solos all night. You simply never want this song to end!

It was truly a magical night of acoustic guitar heroics and an absolute thrill to be in the audience. Thanks Joe (and Danny).

Last night's show at the Club Cafe was awesome. Joe was at his finest. I think so far last night has been my favorite show so far in spite of the hair ball caught in my throat just as I was about to sing a Good Life.
For those of you who don't know Joe that well, He has a great but sometimes dry sense of humor. Joe was in rare form last night with his between song banter. His story before that's All I Want From You had me pissin' my pants.
Joe said, "You know how well your careers doing by the amount of time your record company puts you on hold. If you're doing well they answer right away. I wrote this next song while on hold."
Over all great vibe to the night. Sorry Walter (from Strangeway) that I couldn't stick around to hear your set. Congratulations though to winning the Rock Challange at the Hard Rock Friday night.
See ya all at the Beach Room.

Peace!
