You know, I need to have a sit down with Joe. Can you believe that I don't have End of the Century?? I know a few songs from it that we've been doing live but I don't actually own it. Looks like I need to pay iTunes a visit. Thanks, Joe!

NO MAN'S LAND...Glad to see someone mention this below. Joe and the band used to open with this back in the Fat City days. The horns on the record sound great. SILENCE OF YOUR ARMS...Underrated ballad. BAD DREAM...Still relevant today. HEART IS A LONELY HUNTER...Great tune. END OF THE CENTURY...Killer tune, poignant lyrics (gotta love the pointed Bush criticism-a thread that continues in Joe's lyrics to this day)! Great sound to it, and another one still relevant today. I love End of the Century....A wise man once told me this was the Houserockers' most focused and tightest records. I have to agree.

1. Talking to the King - great giutar lick and cool lyrics 2. Don't Give Up The Ghost - gives me chills 3. No Man's Land- getting close to Exile on Main Street on this one. 4. Silence of Your Arms- great backling vocal by BE Taylor- 5. She's My Everything- got that soulk music vibe

Top 5 "End of the Century" suggestions: 1. Lighten Up -- Joe's greatest post-ICHR party/rock song? 2. Talking to the King -- one of the very, very few Elvis songs that is truly worthy of the King 3. End of the Century -- just freaking awesome 4. Don't Give Up the Ghost -- what a killer final verse 5. The Heart is a Lonely Hunter -- You know the English teacher has to vote for the song named for a Carson McCullers book. ;-)

Everybody knows that End of the Century is my all time favorite rock and roll album (Joe Grushecky or otherwise) so picking 5 is really difficult! However, here goes: Talking to the King Bad Dream Oh Kathleen The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter Don't Give Up The Ghost

1) DON'T GIVE UP THE GHOST!!! - One of the best Joey G tracks ever recorded. A personal fav - thank you Papa John. 2) Talking to the King - Always a highlight of LIVE sets. Elvis Lives in the 'Burgh! 3) End of the Century - works on the documentary promo and was ahead of it's time, literally. 4) No Man's Land - left over from the old ICHR days, if I'm not mistaken - written then at least. Great beat and you can drink to it:) 5) Lighten Up - a great party tune, plays great LIVE. NOTES: Funny how time changes perspective. When I first heard "Bad Dream" LIVE at Fat City, I loved Billy Tom's lead intro and Joe's growling vocals. Early fav. The "bad dream" has become a nightmare for our beloved country. Joe always on the pulse... "She's My Everything" featured the late great "Sweet" Pete Loria (wild man with the Flashcats) on trumpet. This one was played many times at the end of a hard work day, with my baby in my arms. There are some other holdovers from the ICHR days. Great band recordings. Sweet CD cover photo of Papa John & his fiddle, Joe and his beautiful, young children. A real change from the leather clad "tough" poses on previous releases. The new father's songwriting was gaining a broader perspective and depth through the grace of God's blessings.
