I was glad to hear Danny report that the band is again performing "One Chance" There's a song, to me, that's always been a fan favorite.

Here's what Backstreets.com had to say about the Clash thing.

THE MAGNIFICENT 36
Springsteen nuts tend to be Clash nuts, too, so we're guessing you'll be interested in The Sandinista Project, a track-by-track re-do of The Clash's landmark triple album Sandinista!, all 36 songs. Due next month, the tribute features many Springsteen- and NJ-associated performers, among them Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers ("The Magnificent Seven"), Willie Nile ("Police on My Back"), and The Smithereens ("Up in Heaven"). Produced by longtime Backstreets contributor and Runaway American Dream author Jimmy Guterman, The Sandinista Project also features performers as diverse as Katrina (of the Waves) Leskanich ("Hitsville U.K."), Jon Langford ("Junco Partner"), Amy Rigby ("The Leader"), Camper Van Beethoven ("Kingston Advice"), and many more -- some of whom we've heard of. The record is coming out on May 15, we'll be carrying it in our store, and we'll keep you posted on some events that will come around the release of the record.

I remember someone talking about this song when they cut it - some time ago I beleive. If it's half as good as Brand New Cadilac it will be a welcome addition to any set. Plus anything that gets attention is a good thing.

Maybe a trip to the Conan O'brien show to promote the cd?

To anyone who made the last three shows that I missed due to finals, if you like reading the setlists when I or Darren do them, write them down.

In all honesty, I didn't like doing them at first, but it really gets you "into" the show and I find I enjoy it more that way.

We'll be there this Friday, I'm hoping to hear more from the new record as well as maybe 1945, Cheap Motel, Your Innocence..., End of the Century on Electric, anything from Outakes...

alright I'm getting greedy.

That Sandinista project sounds really promising -- can't wait to get my hands on it. And there are enough semi-high-profile names attached to garner some attention -- and Joe's killer, amazing, unflippingbelievable Mag 7, in the leadoff spot, will no doubt steal the show.

... who knows, maybe Mag 7 could wind up as a future setlist add?

Thanks, Joe, for listening to my song and sending me an e-mail. I wish you and your band the best and hope to see y'all perform the next time I'm in the area.

Hi there. Well, no significantly funny stories from this weekend's gigs other than Friday when I leaned over to Joe and said, "no one is paying attention to a freakin' note we're playing." Upside is Joe and I continue to grow tighter with the acoustic set. Joe's music and writing really shines when stripped down to the bare essence of the song. If you've never seen Joe in an intimate acoustic setting then do yourself a favor and check it out sometime. This Friday we're doing an early acoustic show at the Hard Rock Cafe. Start time is 5 pm.
Saturday at the Rhythm House was yet another strong outing. The band gets better every day. We rehearsed another old gem called One Chance Is All You Get during sound check. Look for it in the set very soon.
At one point I thought to myself, "Man, Joe's Matchless sounds incredible!!" It's hard to tell if it's his playing, the amp or both but he sounded GREAT. Joffo is killin' me every gig. He's gotts be the best rock drummer around. Solid as a rock. Art is always dead on. Little Joe's keys and vocals (I feel) make the band and Bernie with is "high hard one" makes this all too much fun.
It's hard to believe I've been in the band a year now (although I didn't play my first gig until July 1st). From the first Biblical Proportioned insect attack to the torrential down pours to the Light of Day show with Bruce, it's been a Hell of a year for me. Thanks guys!
