Mark! Be nice. Gena merely stated that in her humble opinion, EOC was not her favorite choice. It's a great CD but not her fav. It's just that she likes Rock and Real, and American Babylon better. And I for one, must agree with her. As much as I like End of the Century, I like Rock and Real, and AB a little more. When you get right down to it, Big Bob can't make a bad decision on what his next purchase might be. I think all of Joe's records are great.

Please forgive me, y'all, but I had to write a tribute lyric for Joe. I'm mainly a lyricist and don't pretend to be anywhere near as good as Joe, but I just had to crank this out tonight for fun and in tribute to Joe's many, many wonderful songs--and his great band, too. Joe, you rock, dude! (Betcha never heard that before - LOL) "Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers Band" (©4/26/07 Big Bob) Sittin' at home last Saturday night Listenin' to the radio Someone named Zeke called in a request Said, "Man, I gotta hear some 'Joe' " DJ said, "Girl, you're in luck" "What'll it be tonight" Zeke said, "Either 'Turn It Up' " "Or 'Everything's Gonna Work Out Right' " (Chorus): It was Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Smokin' like the Fourth of July Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Rockin' the house all night I cruised on down I-79 To the Rhythm House Cafe Screeched right into the parkin' lot And turned down 'Touch The Rain' Saw an old friend with a 'Blondie' babe I said, "Hey, man, whatta ya know" He said, "I'll see ya later, dude" "Right now, I gotta hear some 'Joe' " (Chorus): It was Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Smokin' like the Fourth of July Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Rockin' the house all night I had a good time and got out alive Then drove 'Down The Road A Piece' Where 'Angela' lives all by herself And knows what a man really needs I said, 'Dance With Me,' there's 'No Strings Attached' " "Let's take off our clothes" I said, " 'I Can't Control Myself' " She said, "I gotta hear some 'Joe' " (Chorus): It was Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Smokin' like the Fourth of July Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Rockin' the house all night (Chorus): Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Smokin' like the Fourth of July Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Rockin' the house all night (Tag): Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band Rockin' the house all night

Contrary to popular opinion on this board, End Of the Century is not IMHO Joe's best. A few standouts including 'Ghost' but not one that I play or recommend. Plus it's out of print right now. I would go with American Babylon and Rock and Real - both outstanding. Either of the ICHR CDs would be a great start also, I like to include some history of the band. Back in the day the Brick Alley Band did lots of Stones tunes including 'Live With Me' which I found interesting.

Thanks, Keith. I sure am getting a lot of good advice on this site. I'm just an old greaser turned hippie turned redneck, but I always come back to that basic rock and roll sound. Nothin' like it.

Big Bob - "End of the Century" is my favorite album but you really can't go wrong with any of Joe's work! If you like the country sound, check out "When the Crows Go Crazy" off of "Swimming with the Sharks" - another powerful song!

Great Stones line: "With no lovin' in our souls and no money in our coats You can't say we're satisfied" 'Course I love the whole lyric of "Dead Flowers," which can be considered alt. country in today's market.

About the Stones! At one time, up until I started recording myself, I knew EVERY Stones song ever recorded. So lately we have been just playing them. No great master plan.
