Back from Vegas and what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But one observation, I have been following Joe around for about 28 years and I like to watch a crowds reaction the first time they witness something magical. On Saturday night there were a group of first timers mostly young women watching. With each song you could tell they were starting to understand the passion this band brings each night. Joe ended the set with a blistering version of "Everythings Going To Work Out Right" and all at the same time these Houserocker virgins turned to each other with jaws dropped and eyes wide open in wonder. It's only rock n roll but I like it!!! Hope to see you back in Vegas in August.

WOW, what an awesome show Saturday night. I live and work in Vegas and fortunately my main office is at Harrah’s. It was way cool to walk out of my office and 2 min. later I’m at the show ! Thanks Matty for the playlists and it was nice to meet you at the show. A special thank you to the band for playing Junior’s bar for me and allowing me to meet you ! I now have the coolest licence plate in Nevada…. Yes my real Nevada “IRONCTY” licence plate was autographed by Joe, Art, & Joffo ! the autographed one will be in my office, the other one is on my car. Way Cool !!
I have some photo’s of the show on my website www.JoeMayoPhoto.com click on view or purchase photos, then you will see the gallery. (the only way I can post photo’s on my site is with a price, but you can look as much as you want) If the band would like these photo’s for the website, give me an address and I’ll be glad to send you the disc. I’m going to try a Pittsburgh trip later this summer. I’ll be checking the concert dates first !
Keep Rockin !!

Zeke I'll see you in Greensburg as well. Let me know if you'd like to meet up for a pre-show cocktail (no drinking at Lynch Field).

I beleive there were several world premeires in Vegas. I don't think Joe's played Father and Son before (unless it wasn't posted). Some of the other covers could be new I know I've never heard some of them.

Sounds like a great set. Wish I could have been there. Looking forward to two weeks from now in Greensburg.

I just realized I didn't post the set list from Carhops. I'll have to find that.

Round trip ticket to Vegas: $355
Five nights in town for a conference: $1100
Discovering that your favorite artist is playing in Vegas on your last night there: Priceless

Thaks Joe, Johnny, Ricky, Joffo and Art. The good Doctor G. had the prescription I needed to shake off four days of conference breakout sessions. Wish I could have stayed the weekend.

Matty, nice to meet you. Lee and Des, thanks for keeping me company.

Like I said. I was kidding. I love to get on Joe whenever possible. I enjoy when we cover old rock classics like the Stones, Roy Orbison, Van Morrison etc. And you're right. You have to appeal to the masses. And Ricky...well he's been one of my idols for years. Again, Love you guy!

Danny,
I really enjoy reading your posts about the band and what happened at particular shows but I have to disagree with your perspective on the Brown Eyed Girl and Mustang Sally covers. When I forst read that you were not making the trip I said "I hope this isn't a cover show". I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of Houserocker tunes that were played every show. To my calculations there were 14 originals last night, accounting for about 2/3 of the night. You sound like you are a pretty good player but I have to give Rick some credit for learning as many Houserocker tunes as he did. Now, Vegas is Vegas and you have to please the masses. I understand that. I was thinking last night how cool it was that Joe stood his ground and kept as much of the Houserocker show as possible. The other covers were pretty cool and I have never seen Joe and the band play them before. Dead Flowers, Folsom Prison, and Ring of Fire to be exact. As you might guess, It wasn't a Houserocker crowd, I'd say there were 25 people including family members that might have known the band's original material. That's one great thing to expect when you see Joe, he is going to bring it. Obviously, you already know that. Besides, the best cover, and I believe a first time ever Houserocker performance, "Play that Funky Music" as an audible at the end.
Hope to see you next time!

I was starting to feel a envious and jealous about not making this Vegas trip. Joe knows how much I hate Browm Eyed Girl and Mustang Sally. They were great songs the first 1000 or so times I played them. But to travel 2000 miles to play Brown Eyed Girl. I'm glad I didn't go. I'd have killed him.

Just kidding. I'm happy you guys had a successful trip. Love you, guys!
