it's just to me there are so many better places to have the discussion. The discussion is important but i just don't see where it fits here in this specific site.
Gena noted quite accurately about the work of a separate subject line on a guestbook. Live Daily has it and it works--it gets the fighting off the main board for the most part. The problem though,as she has alluded, is that it will be a lot more work for Shel. Those sites make it work but those sites have moderators who constantly "tow" things from the main board and sometimes even suspend members for swearing or just plain being out to harass other members of the community. The fighting here is nothing compared to those other boards but then again it is a much diverse audience in many cases. Most of us fit right into this website mainly because we care about Joe and the band.We know that our opinions of their talents are special to us...we are in on it so to speak.
Another thing is that there are tons of people who read this site but choose to not post or only occasionally offer something up. Are these people lesser fans? Not to me. If you are moved by Joe and this band, God bless ya in my opinion. If you care enough to read it--i say great. Joe needs more fans, hell Joe deserves more fans. He also deserves the spoils from that also. I think it's safe to say that JG will accept record sales and attendance to shows from any person of any political background, religious belief or ethnicity. You want your music to be impactful--you want everybody to get it--you want to make a dent.
I understand Keith's point wholeheartedly about how he links the meanings of lyrics to the message and then he sees how it all binds together. But i say that very same interpretation is sometimes open to interpretation by different people who or even the author.

Here's a question: That Sept. 17 show at Northway Mall -- is that at the Borders, or some other part of the mall?

The following is from Billy Price's e-mail newsletter:

Friends,
I've been working with the County of Allegheny, PA this week to help organize a concert on Sunday, October 9 to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. Donations to the Salvation Army, which will be collected at the concert, will also go to benefit those still suffering from the effects of flooding during Hurricane Ivan in the Pittsburgh area last year.

"Blue Bayou," a free concert, will be held at Hartwood Acres in Allison Park, PA, north of Pittsburgh. It is tentatively scheduled from 3:00 pm to approximately 9:00 pm and will feature a lineup of blues, rock, soul, and gospel artists. In addition to me and the Billy Price Band, artists currently committed include Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers, Jill West & the Blues Attack, the Gospel Lights, and our special guest for the evening, Chicago's Otis Clay. It has been too long since Otis and I have had the chance to perform together, and we are both happy to be able to get together and do something to help those who have suffered so badly from these recent hurricanes.

Thanks for the info Shel. I checked it out and you have to download payloadz. I read their privacy statement and they can 'snoop' on you and see what you are doing. I have problems with that and am really picky about what I sign up for or download.

I don't want to speak for others but have a feeling that folks prefer to just buy the CD rather than download it. HRer fans tend to not be in that twenty something demographic so that may be why there is not a lot of interest in the downloading.

Just an observation....to all the "anonymous critics" who feel the need to jump in and police the board anytime I, or anyone else, posts something political:
I noticed none of you have bothered to jump in here with any feedback, even though Shel has been asking what we (i.e., Houserocker fans)would like to see on this board...changes, improvements, etc. Seems a bit ironic... I would think that people so obviously concerned with the music and the band would certainly have some ideas. Guess not. (Maybe you do just like those political posts after all???)

Shel
the reason paypal is used is that it is integrated with the software to download the MP3s, it was the only thing I could find that was low cost (free) and handled selling non-tangible items.

You can use visa & mastercard on paypal, anyways, & you don't need to subscribe or anything...

I have not downloaded the shows which I could do very easily because they are only available with paypal. Huh? Wondering why you just can't use the old mastercard/visa thing. Every other day I get a bogus email from ebay (who I've never bought anything from) trying to confirm my paypal number (which I've never applied for).

Adding the different threads to the guestbook is a great idea. Even local forums like the Clarks and Deasy's have them. Prolly more work for you Shel but once it's done it should be okay. You can have one for discussion, another for the political stuff, one for setlists and another for other artists. Folks can then read what they would like and stop complaining...well maybe.

As always, any webmaster should be commended with putting up with everyones crap and giving their time and effort to the site. So thanks!

Shel,

Great job on this site!!

Love the Hard Rock DVD sample. Plan to download the Spain thing soon. Love Brick Alley Radio!

Regarding Mark's idea of separate threads, as usual a well thought out idea. BUT, I'm concerned I might miss something interesting, including some of Mark's wit (and that of some of his opponents) if I have to sort through different areas on the message board. I prefer your idea for us to zip over posts we don't like. But who knows? Maybe it'll work.
