Let me put my plug in for Unsafe at Any Speed in for Saturday. Great story in that one. I also have an idea of what may be under my tree now. Can't wait to hear it.

Monday, August 21, 1995 billed as 'the day the music died' was the last show at the Decade featuring the Iron City Houserockers. I still have my signed ticket stub! If I'm not mistaken that may have been the last appearance of Eddie Britt on guitar with the band. It was a very hot and sweaty night, as it usually was back in the day at the Decade. I'm sure Norman will be playing at the reunion show also. Buddy and Julie Miller are an excellent choice, I'm a huge fan of anything they do. Never thought of them.

I LIKE THE IDEA MARIA HAD ABOUT PLAYING "ROCK AND REAL" AT THE DECADE REUNION.BUT DON'T FORGET "SWIMMING WITH THE SHARKS" CAME OUT IN '89 OR '90 SO MAYBE WE COULD ALSO HEAR "OH, ESTELLE", "HOWLING AT THE MOON", ETC.? ANY IDEA WHO ELSE IS PLAYING AT THE REUNION SHOW SATURDAY? I'LL BE THERE WITH MY 'DECADE' CAP I BOUGHT THERE NOT LONG BEFORE IT CLOSED. (BEEN SAVING IT FOR JUST SUCH AN OCCASION!)

On the topic of a female duet partner: One of my (many, many) marketing strategies for Joe is to have roots rocker Dave Alvin (ex-Blasters, and a huge Grushecky fan) produce one of Joe's records. (Unlike some of my pipe dreams, I bet this one could happen. And it would bring Joe plenty of media writeups and boost his profile significantly among roots rock fans nationwide.) So anyway -- if Dave Alvin is producing, his pal Julie Miller might well duet with Joe (and maybe her hubby, the great Buddy Miller, would lend a hand as well.) It wouldn't take much to get the ball rolling, really. Keith Harrison

Great post, Gena! I love it when people who have deep knowledge of the band's history share their honest opinions. (And let me second that applause for the release of the rarities discs. I know what Santa's bringing me now.) Keith Harrison

Moondogs show on Saturday: It's a Decade Reunion Show, not an Iron City Houserockers Reunion Show. So that means it will probably be Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers because they played at The Decade, too. It's the first place I saw them play back in 1988. And since The Decade closed in '92 or '93, the only albums out back then were Rock And Real and the ICHR. So maybe that's what they should play - all the old songs. How cool would that be???

Just a few notes on the Rahway show.the theatre had a capacity of about 1,000 and theatre was maybe 1/4 full but it did not stop all the bands from giving it their all. From seeing Joe all these years in Jersey i had never seen him in that John Lennon style cap  plus the vest he wore made me think did Joe change his wardrobe since it was a theatre show . Lake Pontchartrain was quite the show stopper. Seen live the song really does move ya. What a great drum solo during Hideaway. Joe also mentioned at the begining of the show that he was playing some e-mail requests. During Junior's Bar everyone in the bad did their usual turn at singing "Looks like I'm alone again tonight." Joe thanked the crowd for being invited to the Jersey Shore Reunion even though they are from Pittsburgh and at the end of Code mentioned that everyone sitting in the theatre is throwing everybody off since they are used to playing in bars with drunk people and guys trying to pick up girls so the audience rose as one and stood and clapped along to Pumping Iron. Short but sweet set that only left us wanting more !!! Thanks Joe and the band
