What is the lineup for the Hard Rock Songwriters Show next Wednesday? And what time does it start? If you want people/fans to come you have to give the details. Also, when are the No Springs Chickens going to play at Carhops? Need a fix! Happy Rockin' New Year to everyone!

Ok, Gena better covers than originals. Elvis's Blue Suede Shoes. Johnny Cash doing Hurt. Springsteen's version of Trapped. Beatle's Twist and Shout. Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower, Clapton confessing I Shot the Sheriff. Gathering Field Divine Intervention, Clarks Sunny Days from Sesame street.

You are correct, Bill Deasy is joining Joe at his upcoming HRC songwriters circle. The Iron City Houserockers did the best version ever of 'Come See About Me' back in the day. I too, prefer originals over covers but like a cover or two in a long set. Forgive me though but no one ever does a song better than the original. It may be a good version or one YOU like better but it's just not better.

Some random thoughts based on all the recent posts. To Jimmy S., I completely agree that Joe and Floyd are just too different in musical style (the ONLY song I could possibly envision Joe doing would be "Wish You Were Here") To Keith K., sorry man, but the same goes for Kansas. Although I do like your inclusion of The Del Lords on your list. I remember seeing Scott Kempner open for the Houserockers at the Decade back in the 90's, GREAT SHOW! Also love Fleetwood Mac, but I always gravitated toward Lindsey Buckingham's songs more than the rest of the group (sorry, Stevie fans). Check out Lindsey's 1991 solo album, "Out of The Cradle", AWESOME !!! Keith H., Thanks for the Hiatt head's up, I'll have to check and see if Cleveland's on the schedule! Frankie, "Whole Lotta Rosie" might be a stretch, how about "Touch Too Much"? and John Eddie is excellent live (saw him open for Hiatt a few years back, met him after the show, real nice guy). Cover tunes I could see Joe doing include: Keep On Rockin' In the Free World, Get Off Of My Cloud, Ring Of Fire, Burnin' Love (Elvis), Devil With A Blue Dress. Great covers I've enjoyed seeing Joe do over the years include; Like A Rolling Stone (BETTER than Dylan), Domino (Van the Man), Come See About Me (YES, The Supremes), Peace Love & Understanding(Elvis C.) and Louie, Louie (complete w/Art on vocals). But Joe's got so many great songs of his own I'd like to hear, that the covers might just be a distraction! We'll save THAT list for another post! Sorry this was so long!

IMHO
Pink Floyd is IMPOSSIBLE to cover! Even PF cover bands (Pink Noise, The Machine) as good as they are, don't come close to the original sound Floyd produces. Sorry.

It will never happen, but I think the Houserockers could cover Young Lust, Money, One Slip, and Run Like Hell. Admitedly it would be out of character. However, if they did Have a Cigar I think it would fit in thematically with Joe's writing. Musically they could cover any song and just completely recast the instruments ala Johnny Cash/Rick Rubin. Of course, they won't.

Hey Frankie, Joe and John Eddie did perform together at Writers in the Raw at Light of Day this year. You would have enjoyed it. By the way, Happy New Year's to the Houserocker Nation.
