Hey Joe, How about a couple of requests for the show this weekend at the Rhythm House I would love to hear Swimming with the Sharks, Strange Days, and Hypnotized Thanks Joe!

Heard joe's version of the Magnificent 7.it's off the hook!! I think this new record that he's doing should be with 50 cent. That record would be a whole new direction, but a crazy eye killer! It would definitely be a top 10 record! Peace hommies!

BTW -- I tried to post last night, but got a message that said, "You have a naughty word in your post, so go fix it." (No lie!!) (Ack -- and now I'm getting the same thing today!) Let me condense everything to a few words: Dylan, the best Rolling Stone, live 1974 disc called Before the Flood, with the Band. Total rawk. -- Keith Harrison

Yeah, Hank's talking about a week from tonight, the 14th, at Rhythm House. Hank and Mulk apparently can't make it, so the Brothers Harrison were hoping they'd have Zeke on board. Joe -- thanks for the info on the Mag 7 cover. Any details on the new CD? Will it be acoustic, or cut with the Fingerprints band?

Unless I don't know about it, the next show is Wed and then next Saturday. By the way Great news about the new cd. Santa didn't bring me the attic cd so I'd better get that one.

Last year, Jimmy Guttermann , who has been a good friend and supporter of our music from way back, asked us to do a Clash cover for the SADINISTA project. I believed it was he who suggested Mag 7 as it would be a departure for the band. Mag 7 has that early hip hop thang going on, something the Houserockers have never tried. We rehearsed it and arranged it a bit. We had difficulty getting everyone in the studio at the same time so I cut the track. Bill and Joe contributed rhythm guitar, keys, and vocals. Marc did the harp and Jeff Garrison played bass. Rick Witkowski produced and engineered at Studio L. I am glad everyone likes the track. Jimmy is trying to get the project released in 2007. By the way, a new cd is on the way. All new songs except one.

Zeke--i hear you'll be hanging with the Harrison boys at the Houserockers show tonight.i'm sure there will be no consumption in that party. Right?

Couldn't agree more with Dancing in the Dark. have you ever heard the solo electric version Bruce did on the 92-93 tour? I remember hearing it in Cleveland and finally understanding the song. I'm not trying to pick a fight (with this). everyone knows I think the world of Gena and you guys - I'm just having fun with this topic. I wasn't kidding about Have a Cigar. Same lyrics different music altogether and it would fit perfectly. If you're going to do a cover song, ANYONE must have something fresh and original to bring to it. Otherwise, I agree it's crap. It just shows a lack of original material. Or it's just an excuse to party and have fun. True I for every great cover - I could name 10 that suck and are embarassing (none by the Houserockers by the way). I'd much rather hear originals, by the way.

It looks like Sir Zeke had his freak on in that response. I will say this--i know of no bigger Springsteen fan on planet Earth than myself yet Dancing In The Dark to me is an embarassing, weak, pathetic pop song in my opinion. I think it's horrible yet Pete Yorn's version of it brings out such a quality to it and makes you realize that the lyrics are solid, it's just a low Bruce mail-in moment. In the same respect though, I prefer Joe's version of Code of Silence over Bruce's also although both can claim its possession. I think the point is that many originals have no business being covered on an album unless you have your "A" game on, if not, it usually comes off comical.

Oh there's TONS of remakes that are much better than the originals. Zeke named quite af few, here are a few more: The Stones did "Love in Vain" better than Robert Johnson, and they did "Not Fade Away" better than Buddy Holly. Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower" is better than Dylan's. I've heard Guns n Roses do a version of Mama Kin that puts Aerosmith to shame! Sure this stuff is subjective, but it's shortsighted to say that nothing tops an original. Hell, Dylan himself has said before that he much prefers the Stones version of "Like a Rolling Stone" much better than his own.
