The new vids are great Steve. I like the way it was filmed, simple but effective. Lovers Left Alive came across particularly well in the acoustic setting. Any chance of getting more of the band, full-on electric????

Keith, no arguments here. End of the Century has always been my favorite Housrocker record. It's a shame that its songs are rarely played these days (although I've been requesting them for years!!! hint hint Joe). As someone who is "in the know" once told me: End of the Century is the Houserockers most focused record, bar none.

It was the summer of 1993. My wife, Helen and I were living in Erie. Believe it or not, Erie was a pretty nice town. Nice people; good restaurants; beautiful sunsets along the lakeshore; lots of history; low cost of living! Hell, in those days Joe and the band even got up there two or three times a year to play at a bar called Sullivan’s. It was a good life and we were happy. Our first child was just six months old that summer when Helen was diagnosed with a severe form of breast cancer. Suddenly we were faced with the very real possibility that our sixth-month old baby would never know his mother. It was without doubt the scariest time of our life together and we had to draw deeply upon our faith, friends, and family to successfully weather the storms of surgery and chemotherapy. At the end of the ordeal, the doctors informed us that they were pretty sure they “had got it all” and that Helen could guardedly expect a long and fulfilling life. The emotional relief that I felt upon leaving the hospital with that news was simply overwhelming. I went home, picked up my six month old son, held him tightly in my arms, and played “Don’t Give Up The Ghost” (from End of the Century) over and over and over and over about 30 times. It was therapy, it was prayer, it was testimony to our big victory over breast cancer. Why do I share this personal story? I guess I just wanted to say that Joe’s music has touched many people in many different ways. Regardless of politics, Joe’s music is essentially about hope - and the power of the human spirit to triumph over the many challenges that life throws at us on a daily basis. My intention is not to install Joe as the high priest at the church of Rock & Roll (I think Norman already has that title anyway). And I don’t want to be overdramatic – shit, there are plenty of times I just like to crack open a beer and crank “Blondie” or “Turn It Up” or “One Chance is all You Get”. The bottom line is that in a world searching for a voice - a hopeful voice, a critical voice, a fun voice – Joe Grushecky’s voice is, and always has been, a voice to be reckoned with! End of sermon! (PS: all emotional attachment aside, “End of the Century” is still the best damn Houserocker album ever recorded! Now that, my friends, should stir up plenty of controversy!

"I think that anybody who needs a guy who writes music to think for them might deserve to be the sheep that he is..." I couldn't agree more. But who here said that they base their vote or decisions based on a rock star's views? I initally just pointed out the irony of someone being a fan of an artist (Joe, Bruce, Jagger, whoever) who is so obvisously anti-Bush. That you can't refute. Wasn't it Bruce who from a Pittsburgh stage advised "Don't vote for that f*#%ing Bush?" Didn't Joe write a song called "End of the Century" where he was critical of George Sr's boy? Didn't Bruce launch an entire tour in an attempt to usurp Dubya? What's funny is right-wing conservatives always cry that liberal voters need to be told by an artist who they should vote for. Did ya ever stop to think that one of the reasons liberals are attracted to an artist like Joe is because they identify with some of his lyrics? Funny stuff, yet you guys all say the same crap when your heroes (like Bruce) so obviously despise your leader.

I think that anybody who needs a guy who writes music to think for them might deserve to be the sheep that he is. Music or any kind of art is for interpretation. One guy's love song is another's call to arms. Needing rock stars answer's on foreign policy is something I'll pass on. Maybe i can get Alec Baldwin or George Clooney to tell me who i should vote for too. If my garbage disposal breaks, i won't call to local singer/songwriter to come over and fix it. Most rock and roll songs are about girls and trying to get girls and the motions that come with it. For every Blowin' In The Wind, there are a 100 Louie , Louie renditions. Both are legitimate. When you watch a movie, do you wonder if the leading actor is liberal or conservative? If you do, i suggest you live for dissension and to just hate. Hate the other half of the country because you're supposed to--right? The same politicans that spar all day on television are the same ones that make back-alley deals all of the time. When the lights are off, there's a completely different reality. So keep on looking for answers from your rock stars--you'll get as far as your politicans have gotten you.

Even if you believe GW couldn't have done a thing to prevent 9/11, it's absolutely despicable how he has co-opped the resulting fear to further his own agenda...spying, trampling on civil liberties. It makes me sick.

Does it come as no surprise that all the Chief's at the CIA are resigning? G.W. was told repeatedly not to use the WMD issue as a reason to go to war. It has to be driving these conservative fans crazy, that Joe and Bruce are both Anti-Bush.

Clinton launched cruise missles at Bin Laden's camp, however, OSB left the camp prior to the strike. The current administration has had multiple opportunities to capture the head terrorist..of course, to no avail.

has anybody checked out the 2 new videos from the LOD concert? They are excellent. on a different subject, Clinton had multiple efforts to grab Osama but turned them all down...blaming Dubya for 9/11, even with all of his faults, shows a lack of knowledge.
