Hi Joe, thanks for sending your new CD so quickly! It was faster than ordering a CD here in Germany :-)) This is a really great CD! A fresh piece of Rock'n Roll in the times of MTV. Hard to find these days. My favourites are 'Good life', 'Party' and 'Nothing without you'. I put 'Good life' on the wishlist of our local radio station here in Frankfurt. Maybe they wake up and try to get it for playing. Don't stop Rocking & Rolling!

Rocking in the real world Sunday, September 03, 2006 "A Good Life" Joe Grushecky (Schoolhouse) BY JAY LUSTIG STAR-LEDGER STAFF On the cover of his new album, "A Good Life," Joe Grushecky sits on a park bench, his acoustic guitar resting behind him, and gazes at a river. He seems at peace with himself, just like he does on the album's title track. "I got two kids, two cats/A good dog and a lucky hat/An old house, a fast car/But I don't go very far," sings Grushecky, 57, who lives in Pittsburgh but has strong ties to the Jersey rock scene. It's the kind of twist Bruce Springsteen would appreciate: taking that rock 'n' roll cliché, the fast car, and turning it on its head. And apparently, he did. Springsteen sings the line along with Grushecky, and also plays guitar on the song. Springsteen, an old friend and ardent booster of Grushecky, appears on four "A Good Life" tracks, including "Code of Silence," which they wrote together. (Springsteen released his own version on his 2003 anthology, "The Essential Bruce Springsteen.") Springsteen's presence will surely draw attention to the album. But it shouldn't overshadow the fact that, even without the Boss, Grushecky would still have a lot to offer. The title and the cover are a bit misleading: Not everything is calm here. Some songs touch on the war in Iraq, and the catastrophe in New Orleans. "Code of Silence" is a lover's howl about "the distance 'tween you and me." On the hard-driving "Party Tonight," Grushecky yearns to return to the wild days of his youth: "I'm tired of serious, let's get delirious." Grushecky also packs the album with uplifting message songs about the redemptive power of love and the comforts of family, singing lines like "I won't kid myself, I can't fool time/But I'm so glad you're still mine" (in "Beauty Fades") and "Someday soon you'll realize the ones you love mean everything" (in "Don't Forget Where You're Coming From"). Grushecky may still not be ready for prime time. His voice has some rough edges, and his bar-band rock sound is seriously out of fashion. But this album delivers on its modest promises. There is real brawn to the rock songs, and affecting tenderness in the ballads. There are no wasted notes or words. Or songs -- every one seems to spring from a desire to tell a complex story, or communicate a lesson learned. Grushecky's perspective is vividly working-class (it's "A Good Life," not "THE Good Life"). It's easy to see why Springsteen stays in his corner. The album can be ordered through Grushecky's Web site, www.grushecky.com.

I just got back from NOLA… Crossed Ponchartrain twice! Joe, you need to go down and play a few clubs! Good Life and Party are nearing country crossover songs… If you sent them out to some country stations, they’d get some play. Hell, Bruce and Clapton crossed over, why not you?
