"Goodbye Steeltown", "Homestead" . . .etc! For all of you history buffs out there who want a first-hand opportunity to experience some of the things Joe sings about, check out the Carrie Furnace Hard Hat Tour being offered by Rivers of Steel - a local historical group that does fantastic educational programs. This is a rare opportunity so don't miss it! For the first time ever, a limited number of the public is invited to visit the Carrie Furnaces during a limited engagement special "Hard Hat" tour! Experience the scale and majesty of the Monongahela Valley's oldest standing blast furnace, the Carrie Furnaces of the U.S. Steel's Homestead Works! The "Hard Hat" tour begins at the Pump House, site of the 1892 Battle of Homestead, where you will board a van for the short trip to the Carrie Furnaces site. Disembark at the west entrance of the Carrie Furnaces and walk with your guide into the Ore Yards where hundreds of tons of raw materials were off loaded from barge and rail cars to feed the blast furnaces that smelted iron 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. From the Ore Yards, the guide will lead the group through the towering Hot Stoves, the "lungs of the blast furnace" that blew super-heated air into the furnaces to begin the smelting process. The next stop will be the Cast House, where men and molten metal met every time the furnace was tapped. The flow of molten iron from the Cast House would fill waiting Torpedo Cars for the iron's trip across the Rankin Hot Metal Bridge to the Homestead Works where the steel making process was completed. The last stop on the tour is an original Torpedo Car used at the Carrie site that is currently on display to the public. Group photos will be taken at Carrie and can be viewed here. Also...bring your camera and submit your photos for display on this website. Be one of the first to visit this rare historic industrial site! The Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area is spearheading the initiative to create a national park on 38 acres of the original mill site that would include the Carrie Furnaces, the Pump House, and Water Tower. Bills have been introduced before the U.S. Congress to make this urban National Park a reality. Plans for the National Park include a series of walkways to be built around the Carrie Furnaces giving the visitors the opportunity to walk in and around the furnaces that tower 92 feet above ground. Carrie Furnaces Hard Hat Tour Saturday, September 16 and 30, 2006 Saturday, October 14 and 28, 2006 On the hour from 9:30am to 2:30pm Cost: $20 per person Limited Availability—Reserve your tour NOW by calling 412-464-4020 or purchase tickets online

I can't get that rift from "Too Hot to Think," out of my head. Very hypnotic. Definite my fave from AGL, tho other choices are much more emotional, especially if you're a parent. Thanks heaps Joe, for treating us to your new stuff live last night at the Pony. 'tis a pity it was not a packed house. Yet those who were there witnessed the kind of sincere, straight out rock Joe's been making for decades. Wish we could have stayed to the end, but alas, a babysitter beckoned (!) Looking forward to the next Garden State gig. Would that be LOD?

Terrific show at the Pony last night. Great to hear some new songs from "A Good Life" and thanks Joe, for dedicating Beauty Fades. Rick W. and Jeff G. were just outstanding - was glad to hear and see them first hand. My 24 year old son witness a Joe G. show for the first time and was blow away by everyone's talent. Thanks again for an awesome show.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Why the personal attacks? I think Joe is a major talent. Almost everything he has released has spoken to me in one way or another. That said I was at the Decade in the good old day and I think the ICHR were the bomb. Have a Good Time is my all time favorite album ever released by any body at any time! I really liked the Joey G and The Brick Alley Band (better than Joe did, I think). The HR surprised me when they proved they could continue to make vital albums and do exciting shows for such an extended period. I have loved seeing Joe by himself when he used to do acoustic shows or with different musicians when he hosts Blues or Jam nights. Furthermore, I feel Joes best run of three albums are Fingerprints, True Companion, and Good life! Why am I posting all this blather to strangers? Well one reason is I am hung-over and my choices are either get up and do the laundry or sit here and do this. The other reason is to prove that some one can believe Joe is a great talent but they can still think all the musicians in the past bands were great. They can believe that the ICHR had a certain synergy for their time (like lightning in a bottle) but not be living in the past and not dissing any of Joes great newer work. To quote Rodney king “Can’t we all just get along?” Now if you want argue politics that I am up for!

Great show last night, I really enjoyed the new songs and the revamped 'Easy Money'. Thanks for bringing this show to NJ. It was worth missing the end of the Mets game even for a loooong-time Mets fan. I didn't know you were going to be on 105.7 FM The Hawk this morning, so unfortunately I missed it. I heard "A Good Life" and "Father and Son" were performed acoustic and the segment ended with "Code of Silence" from the CD. Boston friend wants to know - is the Boston Waterfront show really outside? Any more details appreciated.

speaking of ichr, judging by the set list, when was the last show with no ichr songs let alone pumpin iron, which has only been left out of one show (that's been reported) in the last 20 years. Also I hope I will not let my spirit fall stays in the mix. I thought that was a great closer at the hard rock.
